Eleni Frangou holds a medical diploma from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina and was board certified in Nephrology after residency in internal medicine and nephrology at the Athens General Hospital G. Gennimatas. She holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Molecular Medicine and a philosophy degree (PhD) in Medicine from the Medical School of the University of Athens. Using systemic lupus erythematosus as a model, she seeks to (a) elucidate novel cellular mechanisms that link inflammation and tissue remodelling in kidneys (b) reveal molecular pathways to be used as biomarkers for early pre-symptomatic diagnosis of kidney injury and (c) identify novel targets for precise personalised therapy in kidney disease. Currently, she is a Nephrologist at the Department of Nephrology, Limassol General Hospital of the State Health Services Organisation, a Clinical Professor at the Department of Basic and Clinical Sciences of the Medical School of the University of Nicosia and serves as a selected member of the Immunonephrology Working Group Board of the European Renal Association
